Lumina came to us mid-pivot — a full-service creative agency shedding its legacy identity to compete at the top tier. They needed a brand and a digital platform that would speak as boldly as the work they produce.

The Challenge

Lumina's existing identity was safe, corporate, and forgettable. In a marketplace where the creative agencies themselves must be the loudest demonstration of their capabilities, safe is fatal. The brief was clear: build a brand that owns a room before anyone speaks.

Strategic Foundation

Before a single pixel was placed, we ran a two-week positioning sprint. We interviewed Lumina's top clients, their prospective clients, and their most vocal competitors. What emerged was a tension: their clients wanted confidence, not cleverness. They wanted a studio that radiated earned authority — not trend-chasing.

The resulting brand platform rests on three pillars:

  • Monumental — A typographic system anchored in extended grotesque display type, weighted to feel immovable.
  • Atmospheric — A color language built from deep magentas, warm neutrals, and pure white. Never safe grey.
  • Editorial — Every layout borrows grammar from high-fashion print: asymmetry with intention, white space as statement.

The Digital Experience

The website is built as a living portfolio engine. Key decisions:

  • Case Study Theater: Projects open in a full-screen overlay with immersive scroll storytelling rather than navigating away, keeping users inside the Lumina universe.
  • Performance-First: The average Time to Interactive across all devices sits under 1.8 seconds despite the visual richness.
  • Cursor as Brand Element: A custom magnetic cursor with a subtle smear trail reinforces the editorial-meets-digital brand personality.

Outcomes

Within six months of launch, Lumina closed three accounts that had been in their pipeline for over a year. Their inbound inquiry volume increased by 210%. The brand has since been featured in two major design publications.
